Tanz der Vampire in KölnVampires unleashed! The musical "Tanz der Vampire" (“Dance of the Vampires”) is running in Cologne from February to September. Creepy creatures of the night strike terror into people's hearts at sundown.

The musical is based on a 1967 horror comedy film directed by Roman Polanski (original title: "The Fearless Vampire Killers"). The plot: Professor Abronsius and his apprentice Alfred are on the hunt for vampires in Transylvania. In a small village they witness Sarah, the beautiful daughter of a local tavern keeper, being kidnapped by the vampire Count Krolock. Abronsius and Alfred come to Sarah’s rescue.

The German-language musical-adaption by Jim Steinman (music), Michael Kunze (vocals) and Roman Polanski (stage direction) premiered in Vienna in 1997. In Germany „Tanz der Vampire“ was performed in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin and Oberhausen before. On February 14th the stage work opened in Cologne.
