You would like to go skiing in Germany?  You don’t necessarily have to go to the Alps.

27,5 kilometers of ski pistes

"Ski Lift Carousel Winterberg” in North Rhine-Westphalia boasts 27.5 kilometers of pistes and 26 lifts. Among the lifts are 34 slopes on 7 mountains.

You will certainly find the ski piste that suits you in the Winterberg skiing area. There are 14 kilometers of blue, 12 kilometers of red and 1.5 kilometers of black slopes (St. Georg Ski Jump). Skiing aces can test their skills on the slalom slope (Nr. 14), the steepest slope north of the Alps. During the winter season the lifts are open from 9 am to 4.30 pm.

There are several ski rental stations in Winterberg and for day trippers day-, morning- and afternoon-passes are being offered.

Wisent World WIttgenstein

Only 35 kilometers from Winterberg there is another tourist attraction: "Wisent-wilderness on the Rothaarsteig", a species protection project.

In 2013 a herd of wisents was released into the forests of Rothaargebirge. Visitors can watch some of the wild animals on an area of 20 acres: “Wisent World Wittgenstein’. The nature trail of 3 kilometers length requires suitable footwear and a safe step. As an alternative there is an agricultural road of only 600 meters which allows limited view of the area.
