The world-famous musical "Cabaret" can currently be seen at Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf. Directed by André Kaczmarczyk, the new production celebrated its premiere in Düsseldorf in November.

The setting for the three-hour show is Berlin in 1931, shortly before the National Socialists seized power. The plot centers on the romance between singer Sally Bowles, who performs in a cabaret at the Kit Kat Club every evening, and aspiring writer Clifford Bradshaw.

Director Kaczmarczyk himself plays the flashy emcee in the performance. The character of Sally Bowles is embodied this time, after the legendary casts with Liza Minelli and Ute Lemper, by Lou Strenger. A real surprise is the casting of the young author Clifford Bradshaw. In the new production there is no classic Anglo-Saxon on stage, but the dark-skinned transgender and non-binary musical performer Belendjwa Peter.

Except for a few remaining tickets, the November and December dates are already largely sold out. Further performances are scheduled for 2023. For more information visit www.dhaus.de. Driving services to Schauspielhaus can be booked at Interline Düsseldorf. Phone 0211 210 205.
